From the anodyne pen of the world’s most daring bandwagoneer, whose work has been lauded as ‘Shakespeare on kombucha’ by The Echo Chamber.

I Wish

by Rupert Hackney-Sloane.

I only wish the rabble could see –

out in the shires of our nation –

that granting them their sovereignty

would only lead to conflagration.

Instead, heeding our example,

Learning that their suffrage is ample

to have us listen to their cares

with stifled yawn, every five years,

they will discern their natural place:

To tick the box and turn their backs

allow us experts to relax

Thus preventing any great disgrace,

or any plebiscite faux pas,

tearing us from our truffles and foie gras.
